After looking at many motorhomes / campervans we visited Shane at Walkabout to view their selection of homes, we were very impressed with the open plan of the 6 berth and the very high quality of the finish inside and out. We had looked at Fiat, Mercedes and Ford but we were sold on the Mitsubishi Fuso based on our own reviewing and feedback from people in the transport industry. Whilst we blew out our budget and bought the low km 2008 Fuso 6 berth we are very pleased with the investment and are very proud owners, you would not know that this motorhome has been a rental. The whole vehicle is in immaculate condition. During the pre purchase period Shane replaced the front tyres without question and followed up with a new DVD player which was on order at the time of purchase. Shane was very pleasant and professional with the entire purchasing process and follow-up , I would have no hesitation in recommending Walkabout Sales.

Dear Walkabout Sales As first time Motor home owners Beverley and I were concerned at making the right decision about our purchase. We pursued the net, looked at for sales yards and visited several private For Sale Motor homes. It wasn't until we discovered Walkabout Sales .Shane that we felt comfortable with making a decision. Shane sat down with us for over 2hrs and went through all sorts of scenarios of what we needed and how he could help, it was for us very assuring to have a real genuine person whom we had just met giving us un bias advise on such a large capital investment. We certainly have NO regrets with the purchase we subsequently made. We purchased a Mitsubishi Fuso 6 berth Motor home because of the décor, the roomy layout and the practicality of the whole home! (The grand kids just love the D V D).Everything Shane promised was done, even down to the delivery time and date.Since delivery we have had several text messages and emails just as follow up by Shane to see if things are all well. We have only owned our Motor home for 3 weeks and already are realising the opportunities that a Motor home gives us. Thanks Shane for selling us a product that we know will serve us well and we feel that we have made a great friend that is truly genuine. Keep up the good work,
Edwin & Beverley Smith
We have no regrets whatsoever about buying our motorhome from Walkabout Sales and Rentals. They have proven themselves by always being friendly, ready to help us promptly with any situation that may occur, providing us with helpful advice and hints etc and taking an interest in us and our travels. They are genuinely honest, decent people to deal with and we highly recommend them. We love our motorhome. Faye & Neil Way

Again, thanks very much for your personal touch Shane , and for the chopping board, which Lyn thinks she will frame, rather than use it. Dave & Lyn Taylor * Having recently taken delivery of one of your latest six berth Luxury motorhomes . We wish to thank you for your excellent service in supplying it delivered almost to our home ,also in the way you have built it and fitted out the vehicle to such a very high standard. FACTS WHEN BUYING A MOTORHOME
WHAT TO LOOK FOR ON A MOTORHOME Generally most people buy too smaller motorhome then realize they need something bigger ,either they start of buying a 2 berth and then find out we should go to a 4 berth as they need the space in the luton . OR ?? They buy a 4 berth and get sick of making the bed up every nite , as the table and the bed configuration are generally all in one, OR ?? They have extra family members who wish to tag along or grandchildren they wish to take on holiday so then they realize the 4 berth is to small so they then want a 6 berth for a separate lounge or dining area so the bed does not have to be made up every nite and there is a separate table for dining ,plus there is allot more extra room with lockers etc
WHAT MOST PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR ? - WE LISTEN !! *People are looking for 2 single beds at the rear that can be converted to a queen bed if necessary , this means you do not have to make up the queen bed each time you wish to rest. *Self Containment Certified from NZMCA to be able to freedom park at designated areas *Plenty of Storage , And must be spacious inside and not cramped *Drawers under the beds ,not lift up hatch *LARGE exterior lockers *DONT buy a motorhome unless it has diesel heating, far superior, and quiet, and does not deplete oxygen levels like LPG *Plenty of battery power when freedom parking and not connected to the power , ideally a solar panel is the answer here , and a good solar panel will easily power your lights , fridge, water pump etc while you are freedom parked ,A good solar panel will even charge your batteries when the moon is out ,so be careful not to buy a cheap solar panel or low wattage as it will not do the job as intended to do ,It is recommended minimum of 120 watt for a larger vehicle ,so remember you only get what you pay for . * Preferably NZ Made -Should you need to obtain parts or service in the future
WHAT VEHICLE TYPE With so many motorhomes on the road today in New Zealand we have to look at what sort of things people are looking for ?
Lets start with the main points with the vehicle type : 1) RELIABILITY is a key factor on the road today , and some of the points to remember are not all workshops have the computer test equipment to test allot of the vehicles on the road today
2) SERVICE - Being able to get a vehicle serviced at most workshops
3) PARTS AVAILABILITY - Anywhere around the country without paying a arm or a leg for parts It is important when buying a motorhome you look out for the vehicle type which has service centres in all the main areas in case you need assistance or a spare part , also find out if parts are very expensive ,for instance somebody had mentioned they had paid $5000 for a clutch on a vehicle , so it is important to find out these things first when looking around ,as some foreign vehicles can be very expensive just for a service , let alone to repair them .
Some vehicles have a number of computers and if there is a problem then the vehicle has to go on a towtruck to normally the main cities ?
There are also some motorhomes built on the market today with too smaller engine for the size of the motorhome been built ? We all agree all vehicles should be reliable up to the end of the warranty >
Its what happens after that ???
OUR CHOICE With a number of Different types of vehicles on the road today and as an established rental and sales company since 1999 with a range of different vehicles in our rental fleet , We would have to recommend the Mitsubishi Fuso as our : NUMBER 1 Choice on a large motorhome * The Mitsubishi has proven reliability of doing well over 450,000km without touching the engine (just with regular servicing )
* The Mitsubishi from our experience has less servicing costs
* With a variation of different drivers a clutch would generally last well over 150,000km
* With a variation of different drivers the front brakes would generally last well over 150,000km
* The New Mitsubishi Fuso has Suspension Stabilizers Front and Rear with ABS Brakes
* The New Mitsubishi Fuso on the highway is a lot quieter than some other motorhome models on the road today.
WHICH MITSUBISHI CANTER OR FUSO
If you take a Mitsubishi Fuso 3.9 Turbo for a drive and you have driven the older model the 3.6 Diesel Canter , then you immediately make the choice to buy a Mitsubishi Fuso 3.9 litre turbo diesel , the advancement in this newer model is 100% better .Although the earlier Mitsubishi a 3.6 litre Diesel Canter ,which is reliable , it does not have the the superb qualities of a quiet cab, far smoother gearbox, and stabilisers front and rear like the newer 3.9 turbo model . The Mitsubishi 3.6 litre Canter is like driving a old truck compared to driving a Mitsubishi fuso 3.9 turbo- We know we used to run these in our rental fleet. Test Drive to see the big difference, you will be impressed.
CONCLUSION
As a rental and sales company we want you to be happy with your motorhome weather you are renting or purchasing a vehicle from us
That is why we wish to share with you our experience to bring to you a Motorhome that is reliable and not costly to service
